Lead Preschool Teacher (Starting Summer 2024)
 

Little Explorers Discovery School is seeking a reliable teacher with experience working with preschool aged children and a passion for our mission at LEDS. This position is a full time position.
 

At Little Explorers Discovery School, our mission is to create and maintain a child-centered, inquiry-based environment where children are free to learn about the world through their own, unique lens. Teachers join the children on their learning journey to observe and facilitate an extension of their discoveries.
 

As a Reggio-inspired educator, teachers are responsible for observing children in their play, documenting student learning, planning and setting up the environment in response to observations, and learning about and implementing a Reggio-inspired approach to education.

Other responsibilities include:
 

  • A willingness to learn and implement Nonviolent Communication strategies

  • A willingness to learn and implement Conscious Discipline strategies

  • Develop a loving and caring relationship with students, families and coworkers

  • Maintaining a classroom community that is well-managed and respectful

  • Weekly provocations (indoors and outdoors) to facilitate learning based on careful observations

  • Maintaining a clean and sanitized classroom environment

  • Communicating with families on a consistent basis with an outgoing, professional and positive demeanor

  • Monthly journals sent home for each child with observations and pictures

  • Writing newsletter paragraphs about the class and sharing student pictures

  • Working together with coworkers to contribute to the overall LEDS community

  • Contributing to school celebrations and festivals

  • Attending all teacher workdays as scheduled

  • Creating an aesthetically pleasing environment that is inviting and includes many natural materials in and out of the classroom to enhance student learning


Skills

  • Proven experience as an Early Childhood Educator

  • Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods

  • Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms

  • Excellent communication and instructional skills

  • Ability to act as mediator between children

  • Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable

  • Balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen

  • Certification in child CPR/First Aid

  • Degree or Certificate in education or relevant field


Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour


Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
