Christi taught elementary school for seven years, beginning in 2010. Before that, she earned her undergraduate degree at Marietta College in Early Childhood Education. She went on to obtain her master's degree in special education at the University of Mary Washington. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Josh, and son, Canyon, as well as playing soccer, staying active, and being outdoors.
Alannah began teaching young children in 2008. Starting as an aide, Alannah went on to become a teacher, then a trained new teachers, and has done some directing. She also achieved an undergraduate degree in Human Services from the University of Massachusetts Boston, coupling her desire to assist children and families with her love of teaching. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Brandon, cooking, and going to Virginia parks with her Australian Shepherd, Ruby.
Kate is a co-lead teacher in the Explorers classroom. She studied English at East Carolina University and moved to the Charlottesville area soon after. After having her first daughter, she suddenly fell in love with childcare and education. Kate is inspired by creative learning through art and music. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her two daughters and husband, exploring the outdoors, and staying active.
Rita is a co-lead teacher in the Explorers classroom.
Jenny is the teacher assistant in the Adventurers classroom. Jenny has been with Little Explorers since March 2019.
Jessie has been with Little Explorers since September 2019 and assists in both classrooms.
Jennifer has been with Little Explorers since December 2019 and assists in both classrooms. She also leads our Let's Explore Together class for children ages 0-24 months. Jennifer spent eight years as a nanny before earning an undergraduate and master's degree in Parks, Recreation & Tourism Management. She was in charge of the programming at Little Planets Playroom and leads Hike it Baby Charlottesville. In her free time she enjoys reading, hiking, and cooking with her husband and two kids.
Ruth has been with Little Explorers since January 2020 and assists in both classrooms. Ruth grew up in Yogaville, where she learned to practice yoga and meditation at a very young age. She studied ecology and the arts at Living Education. She enjoys working with people of all ages but has a special passion for children and play! Ruth has always connected with babies and children in a special way. In her free time she loves being with her family and exploring the many beautiful places in Virginia with her beloved hound dog Sasha Marie.
